As if we thought Samsung was done recalling destructive, dangerous technology, the public is surprised yet again. As we have all heard, over the last several weeks, Samsung has had to recall some of their cell phones due to many reported cases of them catching on fire. As if that wasn’t bad enough, Samsung is now being scrutinized and reprimanded for their glitchy washing machines, which have reportedly been blowing up in users homes.
It has been recorded that 2.8 million washers have been recalled. Not only does this result in a bad reputation for Samsung and the company itself, but this poses as a serious danger and threat to the well being of Samsung washing machine owners. According to CPSC, the South Korean giant has reported approximately 733 reports of washing machines that have fallen apart during use. Of these 733 reports, nine have resulted in serious injuries, such as broken bones and head trauma. These injuries could result in law suits against Samsung, which is the last thing that was needed after the cell phone recall.
Although the company has attempted to preform some damage control, I believe that at this point in time there is no saving Samsung’s reputation. When a product is being placed in store for sale, and results in personal injuries because of internal defects, there is nobody to blame but the company itself. Due to costumers fearing for their health and safety, it is safe to say that an immense amount of business will be lost, permanently. Frequent Samsung users need to steer clear of this brand until the employees have covered all bases and made complete efforts to stop these glitches for good.
