The iPhone7 was released on September 16th, 2016, and the reviews have been mixed. The iPhone 7 no longer has a headphone jack, and many people feel that that is a major disadvantage. People that purchased the iPhone 7 now have to buy wireless headphones and have to adjust to the new change in listening to music. This change doesn’t seem to bring many benefits…..
People are reacting negatively towards the change in there longer being a headphone jack. Time Magazine posted an article on September 26th, 2016 titled “People Are Drilling Headphone Jacks Into Their iPhone 7”. The article states that a video was published to YouTube, by a user who drilled a 3.5mm hole into his device. The motive?! To try and have his headphones fit into the hole that he drilled. The headphones did end up fitting in the hole that he drilled, and the video went viral, with nearly 10 million views. Although the headphone hole he drilled did not actually work, many other users still attempted to try it out. The removal of the headphone jack has become the major reason why people have not purchased the iPhone7 and the major disadvantage for people that have purchased the iPhone7.
Next month, Apple is releasing wireless earbuds, called AirPods, that will wirelessly connect to the iPhone 7. Although I do not think this will change people’s feelings about the removal of the headphone jack on the iPhone 7.
