SoundCloud, a popular music application has just recently made a deal with Sony music. This is big news for avid music listeners and musical artists alike. The music industry is an overwhelmingly large industry with a large number of different types of websites and apps to help uses find, and listen to their favorite music. Personally, I am a big fan of Spotify, it is easy to navigate, and it is cheap due to the student discount that they offer. Even though I prefer Spotify, many other people enjoy using other musical based apps such as Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Google play and etc. The large range of different musical apps offers better options for different users.
Even though I am currently a Spotify user, I am excited to see what SoundCloud paired with Sony is going to put on the table. I know many people who use SoundCloud. They enjoy the user friendly way in which it presents itself. In the recent past, SoundCloud has made deals with many big name music companies such as Merlin, The Universal Music group, and Warner Music. With this being said, Sony is a huge addition to the company. These recent changes that SoundCloud has made are also big for the company, because artists are starting to generate revenue via SoundCloud. This makes SoundCloud an even bigger competitor than it already is. SoundCloud is on its way to being a big musical name like Spotify, Pandora, and Apple Music. Soon, I might have to take my business to SoundCloud to see what all the hype is about.
