Have you ever been driving after a long day and you wished your car could drive itself? Well, the makers at Tesla are putting those wishes into action. The company has developed software that allows your car to drive itself or what is recognized as autopilot. However, many users are starting to face major issues with this new technology which could be costly. According to many users of this software as well as video evidence has shown that these cars began to drive dangerously: swerving off the road after exiting the motorway, swerving towards an oncoming vehicle, as well as increasing in speed. According to one man in Miami, he states that “ his car was driving at 75 mph in a 60 mph zone,” that resulted in him getting a ticket. According to Tesla, they state that “The driver cannot abdicate responsibility for driving[…]The software is very new, [and claiming that] We’re being especially cautious at this early stage, so we’re advising drivers to keep their hands on the wheel just in case.”
So perhaps maybe the life of having our car drive itself isn’t such a great idea because all good technology has its glitches and malfunctions, and I know personally I don’t want to be behind the wheel if those malfunctions do occur. What do you think?
